The Translational Research in Early Life Learning for Impact at Scale (TRELLIS) lab in the Department of Nutrition at the University of California, Davis is currently seeking a Junior Specialist, 100% time for duration of 12 months with the possibility of extension.
This position will be involved in several types of research studies, including (1) efficacy, effectiveness, and impact evaluations of the effects of nutrition and other environmental factors on brain development, (2) longitudinal cohort studies, and (3) methodological studies and reviews on assessing child development and cognition in low- and middle-income contexts. Successful candidates will also participate in preparing and managing grants and IRB protocols; designing experiments and creating experimental stimuli, including programming Android tablet tasks and eye-tracking tasks; preparing forms and manuals for data collection in field studies; developing coding systems and extracting data from published studies for systematic reviews and meta-analyses; conducting literature searches on specific topics; performing statistical analyses of existing data and writing papers; training, mentoring, and coordinating undergraduate interns, and coordinating lab collaborations with community and international partners. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
